We would like to honor the valiant efforts of our foster families and adoptive families who have recently lost a pet. Shamrock’s foster families bend over backwards to help our new pets get healthy and socialized so that they can find a “fur-ever” home with a new family who wants to adopt them and lavish them with love.
In Loving Memory
Michael Wesley Grimes, DVM
Like family and a forever friend:
On Monday, October 19, 2020, the community, the animal welfare world, many pet parents, and Shamrock Pet Foundation experienced a huge loss. The loss of – for many of us personally, our veterinarian, good friend, and good Samaritan – Dr. Michael Grimes. To most of us, he was simply “Dr. Mike.”
It is with heavy hearts, deep appreciation and love that we share the sorrow and grief of the passing of Dr. Michael Grimes (Grimes & Wood Animal Hospital). He never wavered from helping an animal ever. Thousands of animals have been saved and treated by Dr. Mike over these three decades. Countless owners and personal friends and family will share endless stories of kindness and compassion – acts of kindness behind the scenes, above and beyond the call of a profession that defined his heart. We will miss his zeal for life, his humor, his intelligence and his brilliance.
We are truly going to miss him and his dedication to helping so many animals and the people who cared for these animals.
The rescue world lost a hero, but to us you will always shine brightly in our hearts and we will keep you near and dear with our treasured memories and countless stories to be told. Forever engraved in our grateful hearts, you will be dearly missed. We are certain you will be cherished, loved and welcomed by your other grateful friends who await you as you cross the Rainbow Bridge.
Our deepest sympathy and condolences go to Dr. Mike’s family. Also, a grateful “Thank You” to Dr. Wood and Dr. Mike’s staff – Denise, Mari, and Misty – for your graciousness, patience and understanding over these many years.
